Our annual Community Hero Celebration Day is at 8:15 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023. We have a brunch following our assembly to honor all our community members who serve us in various ways.  We need brunch items.  We would like bacon, breakfast burritos, breakfast casseroles, juice, creamers, breakfast bars, cut-up fruit, pastries, donuts, cups for juice, and coffee. You can drop off all perishable donations in the carpool on the morning of the event. All nonperishable items can be dropped off anytime before November 3, 2023.  Please label any dishes or containers with first and last names.  You can retrieve them from the front office.  Donation costs and time count toward volunteer hours!  Please e-mail Ms. Anne if you can help at anne.stanley@legacyk8.org.

Dear Parents,

Seeing the Legacy Academy children smiling through their school day is excellent. It is a great honor to impact your children through education and character development. Thank you for choosing Legacy Academy.

Fall is here, and the weather can change rapidly. Please ensure your children have their jackets and coats. Remember to put their last name inside so they can find them easily if they misplace it during the school day. 

 

Middle School Sports 

Volleyball, boys’ soccer, and cross-country are underway, and they are all doing great!  Our teams have been seeing a lot of success and growth, and we are proud of their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship!

 

Our fall athletes all have the opportunity to ride or walk with our Legacy float in the EHS Homecoming parade on Friday, October 6th (it is not required).  If athletes are attending, they must be picked up at all release carpool at 11:30 AM (School is operating as a half day) and taken to Big R NO LATER THAN 12:15 PM, where the Legacy Academy float will be waiting. They will participate in the parade and must be picked up at Big R at the end of the parade. There will be NO transportation to and from the school for this parade. ALL student-athletes participating in the parade MUST get a ride to Big R from the school and be picked up at the end.  The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and should finish by approximately 2:20 p.m. Please be at Big R to pick up your student-athlete.  Athletes riding on Legacy’s float should plan to dress in their team uniform shirt with jeans and bring a large bag of individually wrapped candy, water bottle, and jacket according to their coach’s instructions.  Parents/guardians must complete the permission form that will be sent out in SportsYou for their athletes to participate.

 

Boys basketball will have open gyms on Monday, 10/2, Wednesday, 10/4, Wednesday, 10/11, Tuesday, 10/17, Wednesday, 10/18, and Thursday, 10/19, from 3:45-5:45 pm in the Legacy Gym.  You must have the Athletic Participation Waiver completed to attend open gyms. Tryouts will occur on Monday, 10/23, Tuesday, 10/24, and Wednesday, 10/25. All required forms (including a sports physical completed within the past year) and payment must be submitted to the school to attend tryouts. Please see the Boys Basketball page on the website for more information and a tentative schedule.

 

Coed Cheerleading will begin with a camp on Wednesday, October 18th, Thursday, October 19th, and Friday, October 20th, from 3:30-5:30 in the Legacy Cafeteria.  All required forms (including a sports physical completed within the past year) and payment must be submitted to the school to attend the camp and practices. There is an extra fee for uniforms and poms for Cheer (the fee varies depending on if you are a new or returning athlete – see the website for details). To get uniforms in time for the season, you must register and pay the uniform fee by Friday, 10/6!  Please see the Cheerleading page on the website for more information and a tentative schedule.

 

The Brand of Basketball in Parker is starting a new season (see attached flyer).  They are also looking for players for a competitive girl’s team for girls in 5th-7th grade.  See Mrs. Kieca if you are interested in playing. TBB 3v3_Session_9_18

The Spelling Bee is coming!

The Legacy Academy Spelling Bee is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

In addition, there is a parent/student Spelling Bee informational meeting (for parents and children) on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in the Science lab from 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. All interested spellers (4th through 8th grade) should plan on attending. If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to participate in the Spelling Bee, please email Mr. Benson at alaskanassassin79@yahoo.com or Mrs. Benson at penacsr1976@yahoo.com to let them know your student’s interest. They will forward you the practice list. Spelling Bee practice begins Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Science lab and will be held every Wednesday (no practice on November 22, 2023) until the Spelling Bee.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences: from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, and Friday, October 13, 2023, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (by appointment only). Our teachers will send out an email to parents so you can sign up. All elementary teachers will meet with parents in their classrooms.  Middle school teachers will meet with parents in the gymnasium.

No School: This month, there is No School on Friday, October 13, 2023, and Monday, October 16, 2023.

PTCO Fall Carnival

Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. 

This event is only hosted for our Legacy families due to our limited gym space.  We will need several games and many store-bought cakes donated.  It will take many parents and staff to host the event.  It was very well attended last year.

Cost:  20 tickets for $10. We will have a food truck on site. 

 

Community Hero Appreciation Bulletin Board

If your child has a community/military service person in their family, we would love to have a photograph to put on our bulletin board.  Please email your photos to joline.allred@legacyk8.org by October 20, 2023.

 

Picture Retakes and Fall Sports Photographs will occur on Friday, October 27, 2023

This is an “All School Dress of Choice.”  Students can take photos if they missed the initial picture day or retake an unsatisfactory photo. Please send back the original image if your child is going to retake it. We will take sports team photos for Cross Country, Girl’s Volleyball, and Boys’ Soccer. Please ensure your student has their uniform, shoes, and socks for the photograph.

 

Community Hero Assembly

Community Hero Celebration Day 8:15 am Friday, November 3, 2023, in the gymnasium.  Please invite all your friends and family who serve our country in the armed services, firemen and women, nurses, doctors, police officers, teachers, etc., to our celebration!  All children involved in a community service-oriented club may wear their uniforms, including Girl and Boy Scouts, AWANA, ROTC, etc., on this day.   We need brunch items. PTCO  Legacy Academy 2nd annual Craft Fair

Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Crafters and Vendors wanted! This event is open to the community. Booth cost is as follows: Single space: 9×6 $45, Double Space: $75, Electric outlet $15, table and two chairs $10.  Please Spread the word with your crafter friends.

Late Start and School Closure Procedures

We will use an automatic communication system to notify parents of a delayed start or school cancellation. If our district schools, “Elizabeth School District,” are closed or on late start, so are we. Television will also announce a late start or cancellation for Legacy Academy. There will not be staff available for supervision, and no (before care) will not be available. Legacy Academy can not be responsible for unattended students dropped off before delayed start times on a late start or a school closure day. During severe weather, we may also use an automated communication system. You may also keep your TV on for announcements regarding emergency school closings or delayed openings. Announcements are made on Denver television stations and their associated websites. The first broadcast is between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. and periodically until 9:00 a.m. Legacy Academy will be listed separately from Elizabeth Schools.

Legacy Outerwear/Middle School P.E. Uniform School Online Store 

Outerwear clothing worn in the classroom, such as hoodies or sweatshirts, must be purchased through our online store and have our school logo. The only exception to the outerwear logo is a uniform sweater. Middle school students participate in P.E. daily and must have a P.E. uniform. These can only be purchased through our online store. Board Meeting Information

The Legacy Academy Board of Directors meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The board meetings are public, and the community is welcome to attend. All who attend can count their time in attendance for volunteer time. They will also meet on the fourth Tuesday for a work session.

Volunteer Opportunities:  

    • Landscape:  Suppose you are a working family with difficulty caring for your volunteer hours during the school year. In that case, we seek a team responsible for keeping our property mowed and trimmed throughout the fall. In addition, we could use some people with a tractor and brush hog (field mower). Please email Mr. Glotzbachif you want to join the team at Brian.Glotzbach@legacyk8.org.
    • Adopt a Month! Help clean up the property! You can make this volunteer opportunity a family affair! Bring the whole family, some trash bags, and gloves and help clean up the Legacy Academy property. Each hour that each family member cleans counts towards your hours. You can volunteer outside of school hours. If interested, email Brian.Glotzbach@legacyk8.org.
    • PTCO Fall Festival Volunteer Meeting. PTCO will have a volunteer planning meeting on October 3, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Science lab. All parents are welcome.
    • The office needs donations of cases of water bottles and boxes of granola bars.

We need items for children to purchase with their R.O.A.R. tickets. We need the following donated items for every ten dollars spent, you will earn one volunteer hour.  These are the items we are looking for: slime, squishy toys, pop-its, bubbles the small party size, smelly markers, medium-sized stuffed animals( Oriental Trading is an excellent place to shop or Amazon), bags of candy (individually wrapped), king-size candy bars, gum, snacks, chips(bulk items @ Costco or Sam’s) Haribo gummy bears, sour patch, mike & ike, Swedish fish, gummy worms/snakes, mini airheads/regular size airheads, fruit roll-ups, Capri suns, root beer mini cans, headphones & stylus pens
