We still need lots of volunteers for this big event. Please sign up right away, so that we know where you would like to help. The time for our annual fundraiser is coming up quickly. We are very excited to let everyone know that this year we are going to hold a Community Carnival here at Legacy. It is going to be held Friday, April 22 from 3:00 to 8:00pm. We could use all the help we can get. What a fun way to get your volunteer hours in!  We could use some donations as well as volunteers the day of the event (you are able to sign up for multiple items). K-3 Spelling Bee

The following students won their classroom spell offs and will advance to compete in the K-3 Spelling Bee, scheduled for Friday, April 8, at 8:20am in the gym.
Kindergarten:

Just a friendly reminder on the uniform changes for the 2016/2017 school year.  NO plaid which includes jumpers, skirts or skorts, no green or yellow polo shirts, and no yellow peter pan blouses.  We have added heather grey as a polo shirt option.

Also, we are getting ready to do statewide assessments with our students in the near future. We will not be able to have volunteers in the building. Please stay tuned for additional information.

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Community Carnival. To make this event successful, we need your help.  Sign up here
  • Summer Mowing & Weed Whacking.  We are putting together a team for summer lawn care.The property needs to be mowed and trimmed at least three times during summer break.
  • We are looking for volunteers to help with our graduations on Friday, May 13 (Kindergarten Graduation at 5:30pm,  and Monday,  May 16 (Eighth Grade Graduation at 6:00pm).  Jobs will include set up, serving and clean up.

Board Election Letters Due March 28th

Hello to all Parents and Staff of Legacy Academy. The time is fast approaching when you will be called upon to elect directors to the Legacy Academy Board. There are two open seats this year. Each seat is for a three year term.

We are asking anyone interested in running for the board to submit a one page biography. In that biography, we would like you to address the following questions:

• Family Background – please give a brief description of your family background, occupation and interests.

• Education Philosophy – please describe your educational philosophy and how you see it fulfilling the vision of Legacy Academy.

• Mission Statement Interpretation – please describe your interpretation of Legacy Academy’s Mission Statement and how you envision a board member’s responsibility for implementing it.

  • Commitment to Legacy Academy – please describe your understanding and commitment to Legacy Academy.
  • All submissions are due by Monday, March 28, 2016 and should be submitted to Jessicca Marks at jessicca.marks@legacyk8.org.

The two Legacy Academy Board seats that are expiring are Scott Walter’s, President of the LA Board, and Kim Baum’s, Public Relations Director.  The two vacant seats are NOT for those particular positions.  The Chairman, Public Relations and other Board positions are voted upon internally, within the Board structure, after elections take place.  Candidates would NOT be running for the LA Board President nor Public Relations title or positions.  Candidates would be running for general Board seats only.

  • Class Pictures. Student’s have their picture taken in their school uniform.
Thursday, March 10 
  • P.J. Day $2.00.  Please bring $2.00 and wear your jammies all day!
  • Spelling Bee K-3rd grade This week! In order to compete in the K-3 Bee, the students need to win one of the top two spots in their classroom spell-offs. Each grade will have two representatives from each class to compete in the bee (16 students total). The classroom spell-offs will be a written test administered by the classroom teacher the week before spring break. The Spelling Bee will be held in the gymnasium Friday, April 8 at 8:15am.
