Dear Parents,
Christmas is a beautiful time of the year! We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year’s Eve with your family. We appreciate all of you! Thank you for understanding.

We will send an email link to complete it online. Please let us know if you are still waiting to receive an invitation.

Friendly Carpool Reminder
As the weather changes and we venture into the holiday season, please remember our carpool process and traffic flow. We are becoming ever more efficient in our unloading and loading of students every day (over 300 students into cars in less than 20 minutes!), but we do need to all remember a few things.
TRAFFIC
1. We ask for no RIGHT-HAND turn onto Legacy Trail for back carpool as this creates a blindspot for those turning out of Legacy Trail.
2. Westbound traffic on Legacy Circle cannot turn LEFT into our school parking lot.
3. We also cannot have vehicles turning LEFT out of our parking lot.
The last two are both posted traffic signs that we ask that everyone abides by to create a safe environment for everyone. As the development across the street continues to grow, we will do our best to communicate any traffic flow changes as we receive them from the county. Remember that our staffing is stretched thin and cannot post anyone on the street to direct traffic. The county is aware of our traffic situation and will assist when available.
CARPOOL LANE
1. Please have your carpool number visible. If we cannot see it or you do not have it, we will ask that you step into the school, provide an ID, and then we will call your student(s) down. This is for the safety of our students. Unfortunately, snow and foggy windows keep us from seeing your numbers!
2. Please pull your car forward as far as possible to allow more cars to load and unload students in the morning and afternoon safely. If we ask you to pull forward even if your student is within reach, we need to allow more vehicles into the carpool lane. Everyone will get where they need to be if we are patient and work together! Please ensure your student is ready to exit the vehicle in the morning. That includes hats, gloves, coats, and backpacks that are on and ready!
3. For the safety of both students, staff, and YOU, we ask that if you feel the need to exit your vehicle to assist your child in and out of your car, you pull into the front lot, park, and meet your child at the front of the building at dismissal or park and walk them in for the beginning of the day. Our staff have been experienced in carpool for years and want to keep everyone safe – so PLEASE STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES!
4. Our carpool staff is out there, rain and shine, freezing temps, and in heat. Please be kind! They go above and beyond their job to make the carpool run smoothly.
Thank You!
Thank you so much to all those who donated brunch items for our Hero Appreciation Celebration!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Virtual/Online Book Fair!
Volunteer Opportunities:
-
- Landscape: Suppose you are a working family with difficulty getting your volunteer hours taken care of during the school year. In that case, we are looking for a team responsible for keeping our property mowed and trimmed throughout the fall. In addition, we could use some people with a tractor and brush hog (field mower). Please email Mr. Schondel if you want to join the team at greg.schondel@legacyk8.org.
- Adopt a Month! Help Clean-up the property! Bring the family, trash bags, and gloves to help clean up the Legacy Academy property. Each hour counts towards your hours. If interested, email greg.schondel@legacyk8.org.
- We need donations of cases of water bottles. Please remind your child to bring their water bottle with them daily.
- If you are interested in volunteering in our Chess Club on Wednesdays, January 11th through March 2, 2023, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, please email anne.stanley@legacy k8.org
Lost and Found
-
- Lost and found is spilling over! Sadly, many items do not have a name, so we cannot return them to your child. Please label everything. When children participate in sports and change out, they misplace their uniforms, and we need a name to return them. Please label polos, pants, shirts, shorts, jackets, and sports practice items.
Medication Policy Reminder
-
- No student may keep medication with them unless the office has a completed Medication Form which requires a physician’s signature stating that the student must possess the medication on their person (asthma inhalers and EpiPens). The parent must also sign indicating they will accept all responsibility if their child or any other student becomes ill because of medication misuse. All other policies concerning the possession of a controlled substance apply.
- All prescription and over-the-counter medications (including cough drops) that have an excessive dosage warning should be sent to the clinic with a completed medication form, including the physician’s signature. Unfortunately, we can only dispense medication from the clinic if a completed form is on file.
- Medication must be in its original container, properly labeled with the name of the drug, student’s name and dosage, time of administering, physician, and the current date.
- Medication may be given legally only by school personnel who a registered nurse has trained.
- Please use the attached form to be completed by your doctor.
