Dear All,

Wow, less than one more month of school to go! What a privilege to serve a wonderful community of children and parents. A very special Thank you to all the parents, community service employees, administration, board representatives, faculty, and staff. It’s a fantastic team and we are so grateful to be a part of it! Important Dates to Remember:

Please remember Kindergarten has a shortened schedule for Kindergarten Play Day on Friday, May 17, 2019, 8:00 am – 11:00 am. Kindergarten students do not return for classes after May 17.

Eighth-grade has a shortened schedule for graduation rehearsal on May 20, 2019, 8:00 am – 11:00 am. Students will only return for their field trip on May 21, 2019.

Lunch Account Notice

With the end of the school year approaching it is very important that you keep your student’s lunch account current. Beginning May 1st, students may no longer charge on accounts that have a negative balance. These students will receive an alternative lunch of a Sunbutter sandwich, fruit, and a carton of milk. PayForIt is an online payment system that allows parents to pay for their student’s meals online 24-hours a day using a bank account, Visa, or MasterCard. This system simplifies bookkeeping and helps to ensure your child always has lunch money. Your student may qualify for free or reduced meal benefits. Applications can be filled out online or you may print the application and return to your school’s front office or kitchen staff. Thank You, Legacy Kitchen Manager (303-646-1035)

Flower Sale for Mother’s Day!

There will be a flower sale from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm on May 9th and 10th in the first room on the left down the middle school hall. Children/parents can purchase flowers for approximately $6.50 to $35.00. We need volunteers to help run the store, please e-mail if you can help.

Lost and Found

We will donate lost and found on the afternoon of Friday, May 24, 2019. Please stop by and take a moment to retrieve your child’s items. Please remember, always label all your student’s items and we will make our best attempt to return them.

Summer Office Hours

Our office is open in the summer on Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with the exception of Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Infinite Campus Update
We are excited to inform you Infinite Campus has two new and improved mobile apps: Campus Student (for students) and Campus Parent (for parents).  Download your free app for real-time access to grades, assignments, attendance, schedules, announcements and more. If you are using the old Infinite Campus app, please download the new app.  The old app will be removed from the app store on June 30, 2019.
School Supplies for 2019/20
Our PTCO has partnered with 1st Day School Supply and is providing parents the opportunity to purchase a school supply kit online and supplies will be delivered to the classroom.  Online orders are due on June 30th. You are not obligated to buy this kit. If you want to buy supplies on your own, here is the list. School Supplies 2019-20.

Character Trait for May: Courage

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • We are putting together a team for summer lawn care. We will need to mow and weed whack the property three times over the summer. Please e-mail Anne at if you can help!
  • Re-spread playground chips. Bring a rake and work gloves. This does not have to be completed during school hours.
  • Do you have a corner lot or a highly visible location where you would be willing to advertise our school with a yard sign? We are looking for people who will place a sign in their yard for a three month period, you will receive three hours of volunteer time. Please e-mail or call the office if you can help! Thank you.
  • Adopt a Month! Help clean-up the property! You can make this volunteer opportunity a family affair! Bring the whole family, some trash bags and gloves and help clean-up the Legacy Academy property. Each hour that each family member cleans counts towards your hours. This does not have to be completed during school hours, e-mail
  • We are looking for volunteers to help with our graduations on Friday, May 17, Kindergarten Graduation at 5:30 pm, Monday, May 20, Eighth Grade Graduation at 6:00 pm. Please e-mail information or call the office if you can help!

Monday, May 6

  • ROAR Assembly 8:15 am in the cafeteria. What is this all about? It is a monthly ROAR assembly for grades Kindergarten through fourth grade, it is usually the first Monday of every month. Parents can attend but it is usually standing room only. Legacy Academy is focusing on building character school-wide, the students are asked to R.O.A.R. This means students are asked to be Respectful, On Task, Appropriate and Responsible. Students who show R.O.A.R behaviors are awarded a R.O.A.R Award. Then 12 R.O.A.R awards are drawn every month and those students will have ice cream with the administration team. We believe character counts at Legacy Academy!
  • Silver Spoon Award 2:30 pm in the cafeteria. Students who have won awards through the ROAR program will have a treat with the administration team.

  • Beginning & Continuing Band Concert 6:30 pm in the gymnasium Beginning and Continuing band students should report to the music room at 6:00 pm with their music and instrument. They should wear nice dress clothing. The concert starts at 6:30 pm in the gym and should last around 45 minutes to an hour.

Friday, May 17

  • Legacy Board of Directors Election 7am-7pm
  • All School Dress of Choice.
  • An eighth-grade trip to Elizabeth High School. This is for students planning on attending EHS in the year 2019 – 2020.
  • Nerf Night/ Concessions 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Legacy Academy gymnasium! This is an excellent time for families to play together. Parents are encouraged to play! Ages 7 and up (6 yr olds may play if a parent is in the gym with them at all times, but all parents should stay for the event). The cost is $10.00 per person. Students may not bring their blasters to school during school hours. Bring your own blaster to the event. Do not bring darts or discs. Protective eyewear is provided. Parents will be required to sign a waiver prior to this event, no exceptions will be made. The waiver will be available at the office during school hours or at the event. Election Rules

Candidates: The deadline for candidate applications is Monday, March 25, 2019. Each candidate must submit a one-page campaign statement, which will run in the Legacy Ledger on April 8th.

Campaigning: Candidates may not campaign inside the school building. However, the candidates are strongly encouraged to campaign appropriately outside of the school building. Absolutely NO negative campaigning will be permitted.

Time and location: The election for two board members will be held on Friday, April 26th at Legacy from 7am to 7pm and Creekside Community Church from 8am to 3pm. Voting ballots will not be accepted after 7pm on April 26, 2019.

Voter eligibility: Eligible voters shall include parents or guardians of all children currently attending Legacy Academy (no more than two votes per household); teachers currently employed at the school and paid employees of Legacy. Each person may vote only once.

Voting procedures: Voting from 7am to 7pm at Legacy will commence as follows:

• The voter will sign official voting roster confirming their eligibility to vote.

• The voter will present Voting Official with valid I.D.

• The voter will follow instructions on the ballot, vote as he/she determines, and place the ballot into the collection box.

• If a person is unable to vote at the school on April 26th, absentee ballots will be available at the Legacy office April 23– April 25th. These ballots must be returned to the school office no later than 7 pm on April 26th to be counted.

Pre-voting and proxy voting will not be permitted.

Counting of votes: At 7pm, all eligible votes will be counted. The two candidates with the most votes will be determined. The candidate with the most votes will fill the longest term. In the case of a tie, a run-off election will be held at a later date to be determined and will comply with the election procedures listed above.
If the election scheduled on April 26th has to be canceled for any reason, it will be held on the following Friday.

The results of the election should be known the night of April 26th (unless there is a need for a run-off or a cancellation). A report will be made available to the candidates and current board members after the counting of the votes are concluded. An announcement to the entire school population concerning the results of the election will be made on the following morning.

This Week at Legacy

To raise money for the DC trip, 8th grade will be selling breakfast burritos for $2 each at the departure end of the morning carpool line on Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17. If you do not see us in your line, swing around to the other side of the school.
