August E-Blast

Dear Parents,

Our 2019 – 2020 school year is just around the corner.  We hope everyone has had a fantastic summer break. We are very excited to see our families again! The office team will return on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

School Uniforms

If you’re wondering about options for purchasing uniforms. We have a couple of on-line providers Educational Outfitters denver.educationaloutfitters.com under our school name, Legacy Academy.  French Toast, frenchtoast.com the source code is QS5JCKC.  This is a great way to look at our uniforms.  Remember you are not obligated to purchase uniforms anywhere specifically, as long as they look the same.  Elizabeth Walmart also carries our uniforms but could have some in inventory that is not our approved items.  We will have an apparel table for hoodies/sweatshirts (for all grades) and required P.E. uniforms (sixth through eighth grade only) at “Back to School Night” for children to try on and order.  Currently, our website is down for maintenance and should be up and running by approximately Monday, July 29, 2019. Sorry for any inconvenience. All orders should be placed no later than Monday, August 19, 2019.  All orders will be delivered by Friday, September 6, 2019. All middle school students are required to be in their physical education uniform by Monday, September 30, 2019. Students will begin to lose points that will affect their grades after this date.

Sports

If you have a student entering sixth grade they will now have the opportunity to play sports.  All students participating in sports are required to have a current physical examination.

The following link https://www.elizabethschooldistrict.org/ is where you can apply for the program.  Once you have arrived at the site, click on departments and then food services.  It will take you to the free and reduced section where you will have to register if you have not done so.  You will need your student I.D. to register so if you do not already have it you will need to call the office on Tuesdays between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm to request it, or wait until the office staff returns on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.  If you qualified for Free & reduced lunch in the 2018-2019 school year you have thirty days from the start of school to re-apply so there is not a break in services.

Lunch Menu/Payments

School lunch menus can be viewed on our website. All checks for lunch can be sent with your child’s name/teacher and written out to Elizabeth Food Service.  If you have more than one child, please write each student’s name and teacher in the memo and how you would like the money allocated. We are asking if you send cash that you would send it in an envelope with your child’s first/last name and teachers name on it. Please remember, if you are running late and your student will arrive after 8:15, you need to call the office to order a hot lunch.  Students will still be able to purchase ice cream on Fridays, but need one dollar in cash. Upcoming Building Project at Legacy

June 2019

Some exciting changes are coming to Legacy Academy beginning this summer and fall. The school is partnering with JHL Constructors to add new classroom space, along with a significant renovation to modify several areas of the existing building. Our first phase will add approximately 14,000 square feet on the east end of our existing building. The upper floor will be the new home of our middle school and our specials classrooms will move to the lower level. As the addition nears completion, we will begin a renovation that will relocate the main offices across the main hallway, into the spaces currently occupied by the computer lab, library/STEAM classroom, and special services. The space that is currently occupied by our offices will become athletics storage and changing rooms.

During the renovation and expansion of our current building, we ask for your patience. Several design issues will be addressed by the renovation that was not attainable when the school was first constructed. Our desire is to create engaging learning spaces that will maximize student learning, meet the needs of all of our school programs, and enhance the school’s ability to maintain a safe environment for our students. This includes adequate spaces for our middle school classes, specials programs, and office/admin staff members.

These projects will not result in an expansion of the school’s current enrollment capacity but are intended to allow Legacy Academy to successfully implement its programs in more appropriate spaces than those currently in use. We anticipate that site preparation will begin as soon as July/August 2019, and the construction process should begin by October 2019. The scheduled completion of the addition is in the spring of 2020, with the renovation work wrapping up shortly before the start of the 2020/21 school year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout the next several months. If you wish to follow the progress of our project, we will be linking a project page to the school’s website. We are excited to begin these projects, and we appreciate the community’s continued support for Legacy Academy!

Board News

Due to recent changes in our administration team, the school board has asked Kim Baum to stay on after finishing her term on the Board. She has agreed to help us through this transition time and then will step down.  At that time the board will appoint someone to complete the term. Kim has had past experience on the board hiring new administration and her knowledge and involvement will be extremely valuable to us.
